            Winter is here, but a spring treat is right around the corner!  The 2008 Kentucky School Counselor Association Annual Conference, “School Counselors: Building Bridges-Closing the Gaps To Success”, will be held in Lexington on March 5-7, 2008.  We are planning a big gala for the beginning of March in Lexington!

             The 6-hour workshops will be on March 5th.  There will be several choices on various topics that should be of interest to counselors of all levels. 

             If you are interested in presenting one of these workshops, please contact me at mawsomky@aol.com  for a proposal application. 

             On March 6th, we will have a day packed with over 20 breakout sessions from which to choose, a Keynote Speaker, a delicious luncheon highlighted by the Awards Recognition Ceremony, the President’s Reception (more food!!).

             The last day of our conference will be Friday, March 7th.  We will have an additional 12 more breakout sessions followed by our Closing Session.  There will be drawings for prizes and the Silent Auction give-away.  The day will conclude around 11:30.

            Throughout the conference our president Kevin Smith will enjoy welcoming you and helping to guide you throughout all the events of the 3 days

            We are looking forward to March and planning the ‘best conference ever”- just for you! So mark the dates on your calendar and submit your request to your school NOW!  Remember- March 6-7, 2008!

             As always, everything that is planned, scheduled and hoped for is on behalf of you -- the school counselor.  This is the only conference in the Commonwealth that is designed solely for YOU the School Counselor! See you in March!!!

Conference 2008 and  After

            Many thanks to all our presenters and all our participants at the2007 conference! It was the biggest yet!  Estimated registration seems to be about 75 more people than the previous year! The 2007 conference was “the best ever!”  We want to continue and surpass the 2007 success.

     A SPECIAL THANK YOU for filling out your overall conference evaluation. It is what we use to make improvements for next year~ in order to make next year’s conference “the best ever”!

     We read and analyzed all of your evaluations. Some improvements we have made due to your suggestions are~

bulletWe will have larger rooms for the workshops on Wednesday and for the breakout session on Thursday and Friday.
bulletWe will be inside the building for ALL events (nothing in the Pavilion).
bulletWe are REALLY, REALLY TRYING to involve more school counselors as presenters (Please consider doing this!)
bulletWe will be at the Marriot Griffin Gate for the next two years!  The conference dates are:

                                              March 5th -7th, 2008

                                              March 3rd -6th, 2009         

                  (This allows us to ‘lock-in’ the rooms and the location in the conference area that we want.)

     There are many other details that have been improved to make The KSCA conference your favorite. So spread the word! This is the only conference in Kentucky that is designed, planned and presented with you, the school counselor as the sole benefactor!
